Notice: If one or more rules is broken, the person who broke the rule, or rules, will be given a warning for their first infraction. A second infraction will be considered that person's first willful violation of the rules. A third infraction will be considered that person’s second willful violation and they may be temporarily banned, depending on the severity of the infraction. A fourth infraction will be considered that person’s third willful violation. Three willful violations, whether they are all violating the same rule or each violating separate rules, will result in a ban. Administration has the right and ability to wave rules, ignore infractions, or deal out lesser or greater punishments on a case by case basis.
1.) CHARACTER DEATH
a.) Yes, it can happen on a rare occasion.
b.) Please do not complain when it does so long as the death was caused in accordance with the rules of the room.
c.) 3 post kills apply in all rooms and forums.
d.) That means three posts must be made in a scene before a kill can be made.
e.) Three posts from the same person will not be counted.
f.) There must be a total of at least three posts made, at least one of which must be made by a different person than the one who made the first post of the scene.
2.) COMBAT & CONTROL OF OTHER CHARACTERS
a.) No posting damage or controlling other characters that do not belong to you.
b.) They are not your characters, so please allow others to post a reaction.
c.) Do not post several actions without giving a player a chance to respond.
d.) No combat post may contain more than three actions per opponent that the character is fighting.
e.) If your character is in a fight with another you cannot post how much damage the other character takes during said fight or what the character does.
f.) That also extends outside of fights as well.
g.) Never assume that another character is just going to do what you want them to.
h.) Allow other players to decide for themselves what their characters does.
i.) (Example: Joe Blow: *Swings sword in a horizontal arch at John Doe’s torso.*
j.) John Doe: *Brings blade up in vertical motion to block Joe Blow’s swing.*)
k.) Notice that Joe Blow did not post how much damage John Doe would take, he let him have a chance to counter the move and the fight continued.
l.) This applies to large scale battles as well, one cannot post the damage for another player's units.
m.) Allow the person in charge of said units to post the damage for their own non-playable characters (NPC’s.)
3.) COMPLAINTS
a.) Complaints are not to be made publicly.
b.) Complaints are to be sent to an administrator in private.
c.) You may submit complaints to a staff member of the room via private messages in a chat room, over an instant messenger such as AIM, e-mail, or the message function on the boards.
d.) When making a complain, respect is paramount.
e.) Complaints that contain swearing, insults, or aggressive commentary, whether outright aggressive or passive aggressive, will be considered to be in violation of Rule 13.
f.) Administrators will ignore complaints that contain swearing, insults, or aggressive commentary, whether outright aggressive or passive aggressive.
g.) Constructive criticism is always welcome.
h.) If you feel that you know a way to improve an aspect of the room or forum, then describe your solution in a calm, rational, and respectful manner.
i.) Never argue with administrators (admins) or moderators (mods.)
j.) If you do not like a judgement or ruling by an admin or mod then message Grlgamer.
k.) Grlgamer will review the matter and has final say in all matters.
4.) DISAPPEARING ACT
a.) If your character disappears during a scene and it has been more than fifteen minutes in a chat, or 24 hours in a forum, without the scene finishing, you will have to roll damage if it was a combat scene.
b.) Do not join a scene, group, or quest and think that if you don't play you're not going to take damage.
c.) If you are with a party by any means, you are at risk and you will have to roll if a scene takes place without you.
d.) Some exceptions may be made, depending on administrator ruling.
e.) Talk to the administrators beforehand.
f.) If you have a legitimate reason for disappearing then let an administrator know and they will decide how to handle the situation.
5.) DRAMA
a.) There is to be no out of character (OOC) drama brought in character (IC.)
b.) This means if you do not like someone OOC, you should not go singling out their character IC and start conflict with them.
c.) Most of us are adults here.
d.) Let’s act like it, please.
e.) Whether another player angered you or whatever, you do not bring it OOC or IC in the forums or chats.
f.) You will be warned and, if you continue, you will get banned.
g.) The forums and chats are neutral ground for all to enjoy and have fun.
h.) If you don't like somebody in the forums or chats, just don't play.
i.) Administration will not be taking sides.
j.) Administration will not tolerate drama in the forums or chats.
k.) It does not matter who you are.
l.) There is no special treatment for anyone.
6.) GET A ROOM
a.) We all like a bit of fun here and there but nobody else wants to watch.
b.) If things start to get steamy and intense, please fade, take it to a private channel, or take it out of the room or forum.
c.) This also goes for soliciting things in the chats or forums.
d.) Please do not do it.
7.) GODMODDING/GOD MODING/META GAMING/POWER GAMING/POWER PLAYING
a.) No “God Modding,” "God Moding," “Meta Gaming,” "Power Gaming," “Power Playing,” or whatever synonyms you can think of for these things.
b.) No character is invincible.
c.) Every character should have their merits and flaws.
d.) You may not use out of character (OOC) information to gain knowledge about another character or story line while in character (IC) unless you have been given permission by the player of the other character or an administrator to do so.
e.) This extends to learning about another character or story line by simply using non-playable characters (NPC's) that populate the world in order to gather information.
f.) You may not use NPC's to gather any verifiable information about another character or story line unless you have received permission either from the player of that character or an administrator to do so.
g.) You may not post damage for another character or take control of another character in anyway without the permission of the player who plays that character or the permission of an administrator.
h.) This also extends to any objects or non-playable characters (NPC's) that belong to another player.
i.) You may not post damage to, or take control of, items or NPC's that belong to another player without the permission of the player to which those items or NPC's belong or the permission of an administrator.
j.) You also may not take control of, or post damage to, any objects or NPC's that populate the world of the chat or forum in which you are playing unless you have received permission from an administrator to do so.
k.) If you wish to interact with NPC's that populate the world in which you are playing then you will need to speak with an administrator first.
l.) The only exceptions to this are instances where a character is causing neither conflict nor gathering information that the NPC would not reasonably know.
m.) Speaking with, or purchasing or obtaining items from, a tavern keeper, inn keeper, shop keeper, or other NPC is allowed so long as the items being purchased or obtained are within the approved guidelines of items and technology that are allowed in the world in which you are playing.
n.) Or, the conversation being had is not to obtain any information about another character or story line that the NPC would not reasonably know.
o.) Another exception to this is common knowledge.
p.) Information that is regarded as common knowledge of the world in which you are playing may be discussed with an NPC so long as it reveals nothing that the character or NPC could not reasonably know.
8.) HAVE FUN!
a.) Enjoy the games.
b.) This is for fun.
c.) This isn't supposed to be taken seriously to the point that it causes problems.
9.) OUT OF CHARACTER (OOC)
a.) Keep OOC in the appropriate channels.
b.) OOC is not welcomed in the RP Channels.
10.) PAUSING
a.) Paused scenes will remain paused for no more than 24 hours.
b.) If the scene is not finished or resolved within 24 hours then the characters involved in that scene may be un-paused and will be free to move on to other things.
c.) The only time that a scene may be paused for more than 24 hours is in the event that all players involved in a scene vote unanimously to leave the scene paused for a longer period of time.
11.) REAL LIFE
a.) We all have real lives and things do come up.
b.) Please respect this and don't take it personally when somebody has to go tend to it.
c.) This is just role play and not real life, so please don't mix the two.
d.) However, if you do need to leave in the middle of a scene, please make sure to inform those that you are playing with that you need to leave.
e.) Make your announcement publicly as well.
f.) If you need to leave, do not say so over a private message or an outside channel.
g.) State that you must depart in the room, where all other players can see your message.
12.) RED TAPE SUBJECTS
a.) A few things are never to be brought into the chats or forums.
b.) Politics, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and religion are not to be discussed.
c.) Keep your beliefs to yourself and know that everyone has their own opinion.
d.) These subjects too easily spark up issues between players.
e.) Also, do not post links to pornography or any sexually explicit content.
f.) Sexually explicit content of any kind, whether visual, auditory, or textual in nature, is prohibited.
g.) After all, this is a role play community, let’s keep the conversation to gaming subjects.
13.) RESPECT CHARACTERS & PLAYERS
a.) Pretty simple, respect the players in this forum and chat and their characters.
b.) Don't take how a character acts in the game personally and don't hold it against another player and don't assume the other player is out to get you.
c.) They are just playing their character.
d.) Give them as much respect as you are given.
e.) Also, do not disrespect people out of character.
f.) Disrespectful behavior includes, but is not limited to, belligerence, cussing at someone, insulting, making a scene in the public chat or forum, name calling, poor sportsmanship, or trolling.
g.) Swearing or cursing in general is not prohibited.
h.) This is an "NC-17" rated environment, some cursing is to be expected.
i.) However, directing cursing, or other insults, at someone in a manner that is obviously intended to offend or demean the other person is not acceptable during out of character (OOC) conversations.
j.) This does not include joking or teasing.
k.) If it is obvious, based on the context of the conversation being had, that the swearing or insulting is meant simply as friendly teasing or joking then no rule has been violated and no action will be taken.
14.) ROLE PLAYING GAME (RPG) WARS
a.) Do not go to other rpg’s to insult them, even if you think they deserve it.
b.) Represent the room by taking the moral high ground and showing good character.
15.) TEMPER TANTRUMS
a.) Throwing a fit, tantrum, or showing anger and aggression when out of character in a chat room or forum is prohibited.
b.) This includes both outright aggression and passive aggression.
c.) See "Rule 3" for more details on how to properly handle an issue if you are upset about something.
d.) If you are feeling upset, walk away from the computer, or any other device you are using, and come back when you are feeling more calm.
16.) TIME LIMIT
a.) Please post within fifteen minutes in chats, or 24 hours in forums, so people are not left with no response and their characters are not left tied up.
b.) If you have time restrictions or play restrictions, please make them known prior to beginning a scene and make sure either the parties involved or administrators understand your situation so the pace can be set properly.
c.) If two or more players are playing a scene and there is no administrator around, those involved in the scene may take a vote and decide to temporarily wave the time limit for that scene only if all involved are in agreement.
17.) TIMEOUT
a.) If there is a dispute in a chat or forum that the players cannot resolve, or there are issues with other players, call a timeout and wait until an administrator can make a decision on the matter.
b.) Please do not speak for an administrator.
c.) All administrator decisions must be posted in the chat or forum for all to see and are not to be done on private channels where it cannot be seen by disputing parties.
18.) TROLLING
a.) Trolling is when someone makes a post with the intention of causing conflict, drama, hate, or inciting arguments with the purpose of aggravating or agitating other users.
b.) Trolling is prohibited.
